GC 2009: Press Conference with Bishops Love & Beckwith

The American Anglican Council sponsored this press conference on Tuesday, July 14, 2009. The Rt. Rev. Peter Beckwith (Springfield) and the Rt. Rev. William Love (Albany) share their thoughts and answer questions about the proceedings of General Convention thus far, specifically the passage of DO25 and how it might affect their respective dioceses. Also present to answer questions: the Rt. Rev. David Anderson (President, AAC) and the Rev. Phil Ashey (AAC).

I can't get this episode to

I can't get this episode to play right now, so I'm not sure how much of the statements of Bps. Beckwith and Love it covers (or before and after, questions, etc.). For those who are interested, I’ve posted a transcript of their statements as made in the video at Baby Blue Online:

The transcript is in the comments to the blog post.

These are godly men who have clearly rended their hearts, and not their garments.

Bishop Love is clearly a man

Bishop Love is clearly a man of God and has Christ in his heart. It is sad and painful to see the sadness on his face as he has realized the church he loves, the church he has known his whole life is no longer following the Gospel of our Lord and Savior. May God continue to grant him strength and courage to keep fighting for the truth in the Diocese of Albany and in the Episcopal Church.

We need to pray for Bp Love.

We need to pray for Bp Love. Such a gracious, fairminded and clear position is sure to be tested. Let's pray for a mighty maintenance of his peace and calm faithfulness to the faith we have received and are charged to safeguard in our day. Jane

Thanks so very much, looks

Thanks so very much, looks like God’s will does prevail,
Despite the barrage of TEC’s separatist hail;
So sad(?) to see TEC in such a tragic decline,
Like “too-early-picked grapes” of now rotting wine.
TEC has it coming, so maybe now they’ll confess,
Their “spins” and decisions have made a huge mess;
But they don’t seem to care what the AC does think,
Just stay in their cocoons and, oh yes, drown in “red ink.”
It is about power, money, control, and lots of “rethinking,”
But it may be enough to drive us all to drinking
From “some other cup,” if you know what I mean,
Like ACNA, ACMiA, ‘cause God’s will, they have seen.
Great Commandment, Great Commission, quite central to their views,
While TEC just wallows in “progressively relevant” schmooze;
Still searching for the truth, doing good all around it,
While losing their “focus,” these “others”? They found it!!!

I thank Almighty God that I

I thank Almighty God that I can call Bishop Beckwith my bishop. Without figures like him, the global Anglican connection of TEC would have been severed years ago.

The Diocese of Springfield is

The Diocese of Springfield is lucky to have Bishop Beckwith. I can only hope that his successor will be able to carry on the church's orthodox mission.

There's too much hesitation

There's too much hesitation on both these two interviewed bishops' parts as to the direction their dioceses will go. I attribute this to a endemic leadership problem. In Anglicanism, for the most part, and certainly in the USA, there is NO OVERSIGHT OVER WHAT LOCAL PRIESTS ARE PREACHING OR PROMULGATING. Imagine if this were allowed to occur in business, banking, medicine, public education, government, et al. Oy gavalt! It's as if EPISCOPACY in carrying out its job title has ABDICATED going way back. Maybe the PRESBYTERIAN/SYNODAL model with the exercise of discipline over those clerics who don't tow the orthodox line is more in order. I think the bottom line is pensions and benefits. They don't want to bite the hand that feeds them, even if it is sullied. COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO!!

As to all the talk about CHRISTOLOGY being the problem-- has anybody recognized or admitted to the fact that the ATHANASIAN CREED has never appeared in any American edition of the BCP as LITURGY!!! (Only in 1979 as a historical document). COCK-A-DOODLE DOO!!!! The bishops of ACNA have a lot of work before them or else history will repeat itself.

I can hear the the COSMIC ROOSTER CROWING UNTIL HE'S HOARSE!!!!! yet TEC doesn't. Does anybody else??? It's high time to to start employing vigorous APOLOGETICS as well as EVANGELISM to fight this heretical epidemic!!!! Our LORD JESUS CHRIST is being DENIED in the face of a somewhat watching and mocking world!!

YOU ARE WRONG! Please learn about the Reformed Episcopal Church Book of Common Prayer, 2003. It is a most interesting, amazing, and inspirational document and "liturgical resource." In addition, REC is one of the leading jurisdictions in ACNA. In fact, the RE Presiding Bishop, +Leonard Riches, was the lead consecrator of Archbishop Robert Duncan.
