Global South Fourth South to South Encounter

Bishop Kazimbi on behalf of Archbishop Orombi

This message was presented by Bishop Stephen Kaziimba on Abp Henry Orombi's behalf.

I want to begin my portion of the presentation on Mission and Evangelism by reminding us of a very familiar passage in the Gospels.  Mathew 9.35-37 says,

35Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.

Bishop Suriel Address GS4

First of all I wish to thank you very much for the warm hospitality that I have received from you all. You made me truly feel comfortable and at home amongst brethren. I wish to thank our host His Grace Archbishop John Chew and all the support he has given to the small Coptic community in Singapore over the years. To all the organizers, the ladies who cooked the delicious food for us, the photographers, those who looked after the transport and indeed everyone that made our stay enjoyable and comfortable.

Archbishop Anis: Plenary 1: Global South Structures

This morning’s bible study, the very rich study that was given to us by Archbishop John Chew reminded me of a story, a story which happened in Egypt, and particularly it happened in Alexandria.     It happened in the third century.    There was a gifted preacher and intelligent priest and his name was Arius.    And Arius had many followers, and he wanted to reconcile the Christian faith, and the essentials of faith with the Greek philosophy, so that the Greek philosophers who were living in Alexandria would actually accept the idea of the triune God.    But by doing this he made Christ less divine.   And because of this there was a division in the church in Alexandria.    There were faithful people, and there were heretics.   And the faithful people were getting less, and smaller and smaller.   But they fought persistently and without ceasing.   And the heretics started to increase and increase, and they got the support of the Emperor; one after another, until the Arians became a bigger church.

Archbishop Kolini

Archbishop Okoh "The Gospel of Jesus Christ"

This paper will concentrate on the first part, the Gospel of Jesus. The Gospel is Euangelion (Good News), the Gospel.  Euangelizo means to bring or announce good news, to proclaim, to preach.  Evangelistes is a proclaimer of glad tidings or of the Gospel, i.e., an evangelist1.    The Gospel as we have come to know it in Christianity is that God has acted for the redemption and salvation of the world in the incarnation, death and resurrection of Jesus, the Christ.  Certain scriptural passages may be helpful here.
